Keep Fastpitch Softball in the Olympics

One thing that I just cannot under stand is why the Olympic Committee is going to get rid of Fastpitch Softball in the games. Why I was watching the first game, USA versus Venezuela, during the field prep, they switched over to another sport that just blew my mind. Badminton, seriously, badminton. I couldn't believe it. They're going to be getting rid of a sport that so many people love to watch, and to many, is a part of their life.

Getting along

One thing that I have noticed, no matter what the team, what the age group, there is always going to be an issue with a parent, player or coach. It seems that every year, it starts off fine, everyone's getting along. And then before you know it, bamm, and something happens. Possibly their daughter isn't getting enough playing time, not playing the positions they would like to be, or maybe, just not happy with the teams success.

So how do you deal with these issues, you cant just ignore [...]

Who Should be calling the Pitches?

I heard something this past week at the Tournament in Aurora. It kinda troubled me, well, it really troubled me. There was a rumor, that one of the parents, was calling pitches for her daughter who was pitching. To me, that just seems like a total slap in the face to the Coach.

If a parent really wants to be that in control, shouldn't they apply for an assistant-coach position?

Now that I have had a chance to review the tournament schedules from the "big 3" I can't help but ask myself why so many tournaments. The answer......GREED. While I understand the need to fundraise in order to offset the costs of playing, The number of these events is mind numbing and many don't make enough to justify the work involved. How to choose and how good are the events going to be if we have 4-5 every weekend. Different rules and regulations compound the problem. Ex [...]

Good morning,

As we move forward with this new softball resource I think it would be a good idea to have a blog that reports on things that have an effect on our fastpitch community. It might be rules or college recruiting or tournaments. I hope to provide an interesting place to share opinions and discuss those issues that have an impact on our sport.
